I just purchased a used Super Shrew... I always make my own strings but this thing only has 8 strands... Anybody know what type of material... Is just fastflight ok... Or do you need some of the newer S4 or Dynaflight material, etc. Does anyone know ( I know John Nail shoots one) if the shrews have padding in the loops... doesn't look like it to me... And what kind of serving do you use to get it close to fitting a nock... Never messed with a string this small before... Whole new area...
I recently found a site that talks about strings and making smaller stran strings. Talks alot about the deffent breaking streagth and such. I will see if I can come up with the name and send it your way if you like.
I should have add that I have made as small as a ten stran string for a kids bow with Dacon and the knocks still fit nicely with .018 mono serving. As long as the string that you use has a good breaking strength then you could just use a thicker serving like .021 or .025. You can also use fishing line to serve with, like 20# test on up. Its pretty much the same thing just doesn't look quite as nice as black serving.
