Bow Tillering

Hello, Need some Help. I,am trying to find a person who could meet with me and show me how to Tiller my Yew long bow. I live in the Indianapolis Castleton area. I have looked over several videos , but its not the same as having a expert showing how its done. I don't want to mess up my bow. Thanks for your time  Jay

Gary Davis is a great bow teacher. I think his business is called Rattlestick bows. He's in Michigan.

Osage Outlaw is a most accomplished bowyer. He may know how to get ahold of Gary or John.

Osage O is over in S.E. Indiana. He can probably be better at pointing you in the right direction.

When you get it done bring it down to one of our shoots and show it off.wink

I've only made one yew bow. They can be tricky to tiller. Gary Davis is great at teaching people how to make bows. You should try to make it to the Tennessee Classic in early May or the Marshall Michigan shoot in late May. I will be at both events. Gary should be at both also. I've never met John but I've seen some of his bows posted online and he knows how to build a nice bow. He has some youtube videos also.

I'm located in Rising Sun, IN. If you can't find any help closer to you I could try to help if you wanted to come down.

Here is an article about Gary Davis. It has his phone number in it.

If you can make it to the Classic or the Marshall shoot there will be some great bowyers there who don't mind helping out beginners. There is a lot of bow building going on at both events. There are also vendors so you can stock up on supplies.
