this sounds silly but I had a fella tell me that I put my wedge in backwards . I always put mine in from the left so its smooth on my hand so is ther a backwards?

There is no wrong way. Since I build mostly flint longrifles I don't do a lot of wedges but have done several. For a right hand shooter I go from left to right and vice versa for left hand shooters. The reason, I like to have the key protrude a bit so I can tap it with something to jar it loose. If it's cut flush you have to use a punch or screwdriver to drive it out. Most shooters would grip the forearm right about where the key is and you don't want that thing digging into your hand.You were right the first time.

Tim My rifle build has been  started a Virginia Rifle Colraign swanped barrel and chambers lock 54 cal dont know if you know Rick Anthoney he has built Flintlocks a long time now and only builds 2 a year now ! It Will look something very close too this !!!
