I found these guys in the hay loft of an old abandoned barn today. They made a hissing sound that almost sounded like a growl. We left them alone and got out of there before momma came back to check on them.
I have no idea what species they are. I think they are protected under the migratory bird act. Probably a hefty fine for killing them. There were some good wing feathers laying in the loft. I wanted to take them for fletching but I don't think you can possess the feathers either. That's kind of a dumb law in my opinion. If I find a feather laying on the ground I should be able to use it for something.
Jonathan, I really don't think you can put both feet on the floor anymore without breaking a law. I imagine the KY farmers will adopt the same program of western ranchers involving wolves: Shoot - Shovel - Shut-up
