wet and cold. tue. we got soaked twice, but were able to dry our clothes in the campground. the cold wind on thu. nite and all day fri. drove us home on sat. morn. we did find some decent hunting areas to hunt. wed. evening i had an 8pt. buck within 30 yds. as i was getting ready to climb up my stand. stood there for a while, until that nose went up and he got a whiff of me. that was at 3: 15, in afternoon. dale had a bobcat walk within 10 yds, but was'nt sure if it was legal to shoot him. wed. evening i was in stand, seen an old oak tree, with 8 squacks playing in it, i know that would have made your day. campground was nice , showers & bathrooms close by, we had a visitor the second morn. about 5:30 i heard dale up making noise so i got up, did'nt see dale but garbage bag was shaking like a leaf , i figured possum or coon, turned out to be pepe le pew. got back in my tent. the next nite we put the bag higher, about 8:00 pm here he comes , walking close to 10 ft. away from us, did"nt seem to have much fear from campers. all in all we had a great time, and plan on doing it again next yr.
These are the kinds of trips that are ideal for our club. The old-timers often went off and camped a few days during season. Sadly, now everyone is too busy. With enough notice, I'd go next time. I already had stuff planned.
It is our plan to do it again next year. We can learn a little more about the area each time we go. We are not getting any younger, so we should do things like this while we still can. I plan to, God willing.
Are you serious man ? You were at energy ? dang man, wish I had known. I was on A-1. did not even know yyou guys were coming. Saturday evening the wind calmed down, sunday morning was best, both deer were taken then, and kevin arrowed a basket rack Monday night, but we never found him. It was windy for sure !
I was camped in the first loop when you come in campground, and never drove past that. You guys missed the good weather sunday morning, and the good food ! Yeah, we need to do it next year . same Bat time, same Bat channel !
