Here's what we got. Camping is free. Camp anywhere as long as it don't block traffic and don't present a safety hazard. First come first choice. Most campers get there early Fri.
The range will be set early Friday and shooting can commence after it's done. There will be no stakes set. It was decided that this year no one in the shootoff can see the range on Friday. They said that it would be an unfair advantage for some to get to shoot it 2 or 3 times before others got to even see it. You can shoot the practice range as much as you want. Ron wont even be able to set targets so any helpers that aren't in the shoot off will be welcome.
We will meet at Budrows fri morning at 8:00 for a hearty breakfast.
Campers usually go to town fri. night for chineeze.
All targets will be deer family and be set in typical hunting distances. The shoot off will shoot all 20 targets, two arrows each. The first group will go out at approx. 9:am and the second group will be soon after so everyone in the shootoff should get there early.
Prices for members will be $10.00 for all weekend. This includes dinner sat night. If anyone can only shoot one round it will be $5.00. Non members will be $10.00 for one and $20 for the weekend. Members will receive one ticket for the bow drawing. The ladies will provide lunch on sat. for their normal fair prices. The sit down dinner will be provided this year free.
Timewise the shoot off will be early as possible sat morn. Shooting the course as much as you want thru the day. Dave would like everyone if they can to gather at the camp area at about 4:00pm to have a short meeting, draw for bows, award plaques and trophy arrow. All suggestions and ideas can be brought up then. Elections for certain positions will be held then also.
The sit down dinner will be held in the clubhouse afterwards about 5:30. We,re gonna have delicious lasange and all the fixins just like in may that everyone loved. Once everything is cleaned up after dinner the trade blanket will be held.
This year we're gonna have the clubhouse open in the evening for anyone that wants to bring an instrument and have an informal jam session. Several people have asked about this in the past and it sounds like fun.
If anyone wants to organize a coon shoot after dark that will be fine. Bring your own lights and shoot half the course.
Now the good part. That evening we'll sit around the campfire and have a great time. I remember those times even more than the trophies I've won and honors I've received. Well technically I've never won anything but I sure have a good time around a fire with ya'll.
I forgot to mention knapping, bow grindin, atlatal flingin, leather goods, arrow makin, and to top it all off Jim says he's bringin his French Harp to the jam session. I have no idea what that is but he said it makes beautiful music.
Hello guys. I'm new to your site. I was at the September deer shoot last year with the group of self bow guys. I'll be coming again this year and bringing my daughter. We were wanting to camp for the weekend but she has to help coach a soccer game Saturday morning. Looks like we will get there in the afternoon and stay for the day. Just curious, how far are the shots for a 13 year old.
Greetings Mr. Osage Outlaw! Look forward seeing you all again! I figure if anybody has a problem with where she shoots from she can just run them down and whomp on them. I've seen the video of that girl running, I guarantee you can't none of us outrun her!
Looking forward to meeting you Paoliguy. She is definitely a runner. She had a cross country meet in Scottsburg last weekend. It was just down the road from the club.
