It was a beautiful morning for a hunt. Me and Ron got up there before 6:am and Bob was already makin coffee and waffuls. There were five of us all together. Plenty of room on Bobs expansive lands.
The Rats weren't in the Walnuts yet so me and Rons plans changed. He did get two shots though with a near miss.
We split up and started looking for hickory. I got down to a part that Bob logged off a few years back and started seeing squirrels. It was so thick in there that no shots presented themselves.
Everyone saw and heard plenty of Sqeezers but once again none died. Even still it was a very successful hunt. Sunrise in the woods with a bow in hand. YeeeeHaaaaa.
I'm sure it was a fine morning for those that slept in or had to work. At my age I'm startin to realize someday I wont be able to hunt like this.
Unfortunately I wasn't one of them... I had everything laid out... bows, arrows... clothes sprayed... ready to go...
Woke up at 4:45 with my nose running like a faucet... blasted ragweed allergies... I'm ready for the first frost... Come on frost...
I was there @ 6am, had waffles and coffee. Warmed up on the bag target and was ready to go. Had my first shot right off the get go! Straight up shot at a big red, glanced off him and he went straight up in the canopy. Took two more shots with my bowed after that and shot a bag of marbles trying to flush them out. Then all of us met back at squirrel HQ and shot bows for a while. Great day.
