Good Lord! I did manage to get some 250 packs of golden bullets at walmart a couple of weeks ago.. I don't care for golden bullets but I gotta buy what I can find.. I'm sick of the ammo shortage!!
The new NRA magazine came today. They are saying it's a matter of supply and demand. If that's so, why doesn't anybody know anybody who recently bought any?
Obviously, it's a Pinko,Communist plot
i cant believe as long as this has went on that some compaies have not expanded their lines to answer the demand. they are bound to be running at max capacity to try and fill these orders. i have gotten no explanation for this. somebody, somewhere is snatching this ammo up. i have heard the government, but find that hard to believe. why would our gov be buying .22 ammo?
Randy, according to the NRA, HOMELAND security uses twice the ammo per officer as the US Army does per soldier..........none of that explains the shortage of .22
if this persists i would think some company would build a plant to cash in on these new inflated prices. i doubt that we will ever buy 550 round bulk packs under $20 again. i'll hold y breath though. luckily i have plenty..., but i'd like to have plenty and a half.
I've heard the DHS story, just not sure if I buy it. Why would they suddenly buy so much ? not sure I can swallow the Gov. putting us all in concentration camp story. I know things are bad, but don't think we are quite there yet. if that's it, let 'em try. I wont go easy.
The NRA article explains it pretty well. One thing we kinda lose sight of is this, DHS is a fairly new Gov unit. What, maybe 12 years old ? As time has passed from their beginning, more and more Federal agencies have been put under their umbrella. They do the contracting and buying for those various agencies, so the number will go up over time. The problem I see is people compare the number of cartridges DHS uses per employee to the number per American soldier used per year. Very bad comparison. The vast majority of military personnel never fire a gun, a lot are never trained on them (Navy , Air Force). If you were making ammo and could sell all the centerfire you could make in a 24/7 period, just how much time and material would you dedicate to .22 rimfire ? You have to get out and quit going to look at Walmart. Get out to the local gun stores. I'll never spend a dime in Walmart if I can get it somewhere locally owned. I've been able to get any ammo I want all thru this "Shortage" at Acme Sports here in Seymour. A lot of the time they would not put it on the shelf to avoid "hoarders" from buying all of it. I'd ask and they would go into the back room and get me some. This was just all a perfect storm of things coming together at once. Why would any of the ammo makers buy and build new plants to ease a shortage that could end tomorrow. Poor business practice. Business men look years into the market, not weeks or days. The main thing I done during this time was to get more involved in reloading. I've stocked up on powder when I could. bullet molds, lead, jacketed bullets, etc. .22s I have and can look ahead enough to not run out of. .38-.357- and 9mm can be harder to find and now I can reload them.

im not seeing this shortage ending. I used to be optimistic and say that, but it has been over a year now, and its all pretty much back with the exception of .22 's
A company in Australia is exporting .22 into the US now. My guess is the Dick in Chief of the US is doing all he can to limit imports of ammo from 3rd world countries but since we have a good trade relationship with the Aussies he can't do much there.

Not yet. They just got the OK to bring them in. They'll have to go thru the normal supply pipelines. I'll give a shout out when they do.
