As war wages over the genetic modification of the food supply, mega biotech companies have already begun launching campaigns to release millions of GMO insects in the Florida Keys region that have been cross-bred with the herpes simplex virus and E. coli bacteria.

With petitions against the release already amassing 130,000 signatures, British researchers are currently seeking government approval to initiate the unprecedented release. It was back in December of 2014 that we first revealed to you that these mosquitoes were already being shipped inside the United States, showing the confidence of the biotech lobbyists and researchers that they are in fact going to be granted the stamp of approval by the Food and Drug Administration to release the GMO insects.

As the Associated Press reports today on the issue, we are entering into a whole new territory of genetically modified creations:

Enter Oxitec, a British biotech firm that patented a method of breeding Aedes aegypti with fragments of genes from the herpes simplex virus and E. coli bacteria as well as coral and cabbage. This synthetic DNA is commonly used in laboratory science and is thought to pose no significant risks to other animals, but it kills mosquito larvae.

Oxitecs lab workers manually remove modified females, aiming to release only males, which dont bite for blood like females do. The modified males then mate with wild females whose offspring die, reducing the population.

Oxitec has built a breeding lab in Marathon and hopes to release its mosquitoes in a Key West neighborhood this spring.
With the seemingly-imminent roll out of GMO pigs alongside the release of genetically modified insects within the United States, it is now obvious that the new war over the supply exists not only over staple crops and seeds but the oncoming wave of genetically augmented animal and insect life.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives collaborated on plans to monitor gun show attendees using automatic license plate readers, according to a newly disclosed DEA email obtained by the ACLU through the Freedom of Information Act.

The April 2009 email states that DEA Phoenix Division Office is working closely with ATF on attacking the guns going to [redacted] and the gun shows, to include programs/operation with LPRs at the gun shows. The government redacted the rest of the email, but when we received this document we concluded that these agencies used license plate readers to collect information about law-abiding citizens attending gun shows. An automatic license plate reader cannot distinguish between people transporting illegal guns and those transporting legal guns, or no guns at all; it only documents the presence of any car driving to the event. Mere attendance at a gun show, it appeared, would have been enough to have one's presence noted in a DEA database.

President Obama met with American Muslim leaders this afternoon, according to the White House schedule, but so far the administration is unwilling to reveal who attended the meeting, which was closed to the press.

The White House released a readout of the meeting explaining that Obama discussed a range of domestic and foreign policy issues including Obamacare, police fairness, anti-Muslim discrimination, and the upcoming Summit on Countering Violence Extremism.

The President discussed the need to continue countering ISIL and other groups that commit horrific acts of violence, purportedly in the name of Islam, the readout continued.

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest defended the meeting during his daily press briefing, pointing out that it wasnt unusual for the president to meet with a wide variety of communities from across the country.

Sometimes that includes religious leaders; sometimes that includes leaders that are involved in academia or other specific issue areas, he explained.

But the White House was unwilling to release the names of leaders who attended the meeting.

Gallup CEO Jim Clifton told CNBC he might suddenly disappear for telling the truth about the Obama unemployment rate.

The real Obama unemployment rate has never recovered and is still above 10%.

Yesterday, Jim Clifton, the Chairman and CEO of Gallup, an iconic U.S. company dating back to 1935, told CNBC that he was worried he might suddenly disappear and not make it home that evening if he disputed the accuracy of what the U.S. government is reporting as unemployed Americans.

The CNBC interview came one day after Clifton had penned a gutsy opinion piece on Gallups web site, defiantly calling the governments 5.6 percent unemployment figure The Big Lie in the articles headline. His appearance on CNBC was apparently to walk back the lie part of the title and reframe the jobs data as just hopelessly deceptive.

The United States has accepted two new immigrants for each additional job created since 2000, according to federal data.

The data shows that 18 million legal and illegal immigrants settled in the United States from 2000 to 2015, while only 9.3 million additional jobs were created, according to the Center for Immigration Studies, which favors a reduced level of immigration.

After subtracting deaths, departures and retirements among the immigrants, the working-age population of immigrants grew 12 million since 2000, according to data at the Bureau of Labor Standards, said Steve Camarota, the author of the CIS study.

The working-age population of Americans aged 16 to 65 also grew by 16 million, Camarota told The Daily Caller. Thats a combined working-age population increase of 28 million, which is three times the number of jobs added since 2000.

On Sunday night, White House press secretary Josh Earnest issued a statement condemning the actions of Islamic State Militants after they released a video of the beheading of 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians.

The statement from the White House described the victims as innocents and citizens, but made no mention of the victims faith.

The United States condemns the despicable and cowardly murder of twenty-one Egyptian citizens in Libya by ISIL-affiliated terrorists, the statement read, offering condolence to the victims families.

The ISIS video was directly targeted at Christians, citing their faith as the reason for their death.

A caption in the video described the victims as the people of the cross, followers of the hostile Egyptian church.

He did break the law, but the law is absurd. I did break the law to my shock, Gordon Van Gilder tells me over the phone. He sighs. Legally, theyre right. The they in this equation is the state of New Jersey. The I is Van Gilder, a 72-year-old retired schoolteacher from the town of Millville. And that law-breaking? Well, that could be extremely costly indeed. For transporting a 300-year-old flintlock pistol without a concealed-carry license, Van Gilder has been charged with a second-degree felony specifically, with unlawful possession of a handgun and he is facing a maximum of ten years in state prison. This, he suggests, is unbelievable. Van Gilders ordeal began last November, when the car he was traveling in was pulled over by police. At the time, he and a friend were on their way back from a meeting with an antique dealer. Im very interested in the 18th century, both here and in Britain, he tells me over the phone. Ive collected a lot of 18th-century items. I have some things from the Continental Army, including some personal documents letters and so on. But Im more interested in the things they made. My house is full of 18th-century furniture. I have little spoons, glassware. Its an obsession of mine. Im not a gun collector per se, but I think theyre interesting. The gun in question, Van Gilder says, was probably made about 1765 in Belgium for the British market. A dealer found it in Pennsylvania, and held it for him. I paid $800 for it. Its a boxlock pistol, so theres no hammer. Its beautiful. Having picked the gun up, Van Gilder and his friend first went to lunch, and then they headed home. My friend was driving because my arm is shot, Van Gilder recalls. On the way home, the pair were pulled over by a local sheriff. According to Van Gilder, the detaining officer told him that he wanted to search the car, and threatened him with dogs if he refused. I didnt mind, he tells me, but he wanted to make sure that the officer knew that there was a flintlock pistol in the glove compartment, and that he had just purchased it. Oh, man, Gilder says. Immediately, he wanted to arrest me. But when he called the undersheriff, he was told, No, its a 250-year-old pistol; let him go. The officer did as he was told, and gave the pistol back. The next morning, however, he came back with three cars and three or four sheriffs. Van Gilders says, He told me, I should have arrested you last night. So he did. They led me away in handcuffs and, at the station, chained me by my hands and feet to a cold stainless-steel bench. Ive never been handcuffed in my life or arrested, even, Van Gilder explains. I was embarrassed and ashamed. The only prisoner there was myself: a 72-year-old English teacher. I was really ashamed. Before long, Van Gilder had been charged and the gun had been taken away for ballistics testing, almost certainly never to be returned. (That the department believes that a ballistics test on a flintlock pistol can be useful should give you some indication of who were dealing with here.) Theyve angered me, Van Gilder concedes. But technically, by New Jerseys law, the officer was probably right. That, sadly, is true. Indeed, according to Van Gilders lawyer, Evan Nappen, Gordon has fallen foul of a fundamental flaw in New Jerseys law. Classifying this pistol as a weapon, Nappen says, is absolutely absurd. Were talking about a crime that carries a minimum mandatory sentence of between three and a half and five years. The federal government, Nappen notes, doesnt even consider this gun a weapon. (By the terms of the 1968 Gun Control Act, few firearms manufactured prior to 1898 are subject to federal law.) This is an original flintlock that predates the founding of the country, and was made before New Jerseys laws were passed. But theyre treating it the same as if it were a .44 Magnum. The idea that he was breaking a law, Nappen concludes, never crossed Van Gilders mind. Its an antique. He had no intention of shooting it. It wasnt loaded. There was no flint, no powder, and no ball.

Trying to explain his controversial comments that President Obama doesnt love America, Rudy Giuliani said Friday that he believes the President has been influenced by communism and socialism.

Look, this man was brought up basically in a white family, so whatever he learned or didnt learn, I attribute this more to the influence of communism and socialism than to his race, Giuliani told the Daily News.

I dont (see) this President as being particularly a product of African-American society or something like that. He isnt, the former mayor added. Logically, think about his background. . . The ideas that are troubling me and are leading to this come from communists with whom he associated when he was 9 years old through family connections.

When Obama was 9, he was living in Indonesia with his mother and his stepfather. Giuliani said he was referencing Obamas grandfather having introduced him to Frank Marshall Davis, a member of the Communist Party.

The Bethlehem-based news agency Maan has cited a Kuwaiti newspaper report Saturday, that US President Barack Obama thwarted an Israeli military attack against Iran's nuclear facilities in 2014 by threatening to shoot down Israeli jets before they could reach their targets in Iran.

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest confirmed Monday that President Obama is "very interested" in the idea of raising taxes through unilateral executive action.
