I feel a little funny putting this here, but I'm having a hard time finding qualified candidates.
I have 3-4 design draftsman positions to fill, this is high level design drafting, we design and manufacture heat recovery steam generators for the power industry all over the world. Our office is near the Gene Snyder and Old Henry Road in Louisville.
It's very rewarding work with the potential for long term employment, these are very good jobs.
We utilize Microstation for CAD work, but can train if experience with that particular program is lacking, I need strong drafting skills, we can get over software issues.
Qualified candidates should have strong computer skills (excel, word, etc), and 3-5 years design drafting experience at a minimum.
I have had some success with folks straight out of school, with no work experience, so don't let the qualifications scare anyone off.
A strong mechanical aptitude is required.
If you know anyone that is qualified and interested, shoot me an e-mail at dan@fargohc.com and I'll let you know how they can get in contact with me.
sounds like a good job Dan. I work in the power industry, a coal burning power plant to be exact, and for the life of me cant figure what "heat recovery steam generator" is. I asume you are talking about a reheat boiler maybe? different terminology sometimes gets confusing, and every manufacturer seems top have a complete different language. Im familiar with B+W boilers and CE boilers.
hope u find ur guy(s) sounds like an opportunity at a real good job.
A HRSG is a three pressure with reheat boiler on the exhaust end of a gas fired combustion turbine (CT).
The CT turns a generator and in simple cycle mode the 1200 degree exhaust is released into the atmosphere. Our boilers turn the plant into a combined cycle pant where the waste heat is used to make steam to spin a steam turbine making more electricity, nearly doubling the output of the plant.
And yes, these are good opportunities, I started out in one of these positions 23 years ago and now manage the department, with only a high school diploma ( and hard work :) )
I'm not really in the market for work right now but I started my career as a Design Draftsman with a lot of years of experience. I may know some guys tha might be a good fit for you though. I can give them your info is that's OK with you.
Mark
Ok, gotcha. Im somewhat familiar with CT's, we have 7 of them on site, which we run remotely from the coal plant control room.We have a separate crew that maintains and checks them daily, since they are located a half mile away, and they are strictly peaking units, no combined cycle. Looks like I learned something. if you aint careful that will happen, even to old men.
Would love too do something like that. Had three years of drafting and four years of tool & die making in high school. Been a long time though...still love to build and design things.
