Trad Fest

Who all is camping, and where are you gonna set up?

I think me and John and Jim will get there Fri morn sometime.

There's gonna be a cool north wind 10-15mph. at times switching to the east Sat night.

Is everyone gonna camp on that hilltop again?

That creek spot at the end of the road looks like it would be out of the wind and I think it has a big fire pit if I remember.

What's Yalls thinkin on the matter?

Den Den, I think that several of us are planning on being there Friday morning. some think that camping up on top will be closer to everything including the portacans. However it could be brought up for discussion again I guess. As far as the campfire you can have campfires up on the hill as well. We did last year. Glad to hear that you are going to camp this year.

The top it is then. I just remember that year when it was real windy. I wouldn't want anyones camper to blow overno Well we's all white men so what do we know about pickin a spot for a village anywayconfuse

Todd I'm not gonna be cramed in a van with them like you were. I'll be in my little tent in the general vacinity. Not too close to the porto-can. Not too far from the foodbiggrin

I think we are going to have to nix the camping at the creek campsite, as we dont want folks driving through the middle of the vendors and running over folks. One change this year is you can camp down the hill up next to the woods as we have the smoker round down there, but all shots are into the woods, so the creek side from the pond to the longshot (near entrance of "B" course) is all open to campers. Basically from the pistol range to the vendors, on both sides of the lane is open to camping/parking. From the fence on top of the hill, diown to the pond and creek. You may build campfires, and we have firewood stacked through out the camping areas for you're use, free of charge. All we ask is bring a shovel and cut out a sod plug, than before leaving put uinused firewood back in one of the piles and replace the sod plug. You are camping in a hayfield, and we dont want to ruin the farmers hay crop with our festivities, hence the timing of our shoot, later in the year would ruin his hay crop. The gate to game farm will be unlocked, but possibly closed thursday moening for those that want to get there early and set up. Course opens friday morning at 8 am. Hope you all can make it, and have a good time.

Hey, dont make fun of the turtleman! He lives close to here, maybe 20 minutes drive. His buddy Neal James used to work  with me at the factory about 12 years ago, ate lunch with him many times. We called him "Catfish" at work. Whats scary is they are both EXACTLY like they appear on TV. Just plain old, dumb, country boys.

John, did you have a problem with it last year? We have not tried to encourage people to bring dogs, actually I have tried to discourage it. If it becomes a problem we may have to prohibit them, but it is too late to for this year, as many are allready en route. If you have a problem, let us know, or try and work it out diplomatically with the owner of said noisy dog. Fortunately this year we are permitting some to camp all the way down to the trees as we have changed the course and made that area safe, so it is possible to get away from strangers if you are a light sleeper and need a little more seclusion. Of course if someone pulls up beside you, pitches camp and drags out a yapper, let us know. I guess some folks have no one to tend their dogs when they take a trip, hence the hindrance. Just one more problem that can pop up at the occaisions. Remember, diplomacy. I think the simple solution would be offensive animals become the main course at the saturday night potluck, but no one has ever accused me of being "Politically Correct". I also have some great solutions to this countries drug offenders, lawyers, and politicians, but alas the funny looks I get when expressing my ideas tells me they are not acceptible methods during todays liberal minded populace. Things could be so simple.

He didn't have a problem with them... He just can't stand to hear a dog bark. I'm bringing one of my dogs..... I like it when I see people with their dogs at shoots! I don't understand why people would want to bring their kids.. My dog is coming and my kids are staying home!!!!!

It was good to see so much of the ITBA gang, just wish I could get up there more than I do. I think the smoker was a little too easy to John. I'll see what I can do next year to ensure you tear the hell out of an arrow! LOL. Funny thing is, at the awards we even asked "Did you like the smoker round " ? Everyone shouted "Yes" ! Than we asked "Do we need to make it harder? " and they all shouted "NO ! " I'm with you though John. I did not hear of anyone losing or breaking an arrow, but, the high score was only 71 out of a possible 100, so I reckon it was not too easy.
Thinking about a groundhog amongst a bunch of rocks about midway through the smoker next year, maybe some steel here and there......., we'l fix it.

I will have to build one of them "45/70" brushbuster, indestructible arrows like skunkheads. Or, like you say, just borrow his.
