Did you boys watch the SB ad for Ram trucks? Best ad I've seen in a long time!
Hats off to all of you that farm.
If there is reincarnation, I know for sure what I want to be next time around: a farmer! It is my dream now: sell the house in town, move to the farm and get me some cows again and a small herd of goats, some chickens. Good health and the Lord willing that is exactly what I will be doing for the rest of my days, please Lord!
Life was good when I had my cows and had to go to the farm and take care of them/feed them, even when it had to be after work, in the middle of the night in winter. Very rewarding. Instant gratification.
I grew up like That on a farm spent most of life in horses just a few Cows now !! Nothing like when i was Younger 100 mamma cows & bulls 30 Broodmares 2 stalloins Reg Quarter Horses . 200 hogs plus Corn & Tobbacco it Reminded me of My Dad alot !!!
Milk cows for 12 years, anywhere from 20-90 head, twice a day, seven days a week, bitter cold,to brutal heat. I got to take off maybe 3 days in that 12 years.never went anywhere for more than 4-5 hours, no vacations,no holidays,no days off, and if you were sick, well, than tough, you did it anyway, and the reward for all this was you got to live in poverty level and worry about how to pay you're bills. It aint all its cracked up to be . i have time off to play, plenty of money, and medical insurance. These are the good ol days !
Randy, I agree with you there and salute you for all your hard work. There is a difference though: farming is hard work, milking is slavery! There are people out there though that believe milking is a good way of making a living. The guy that neighbors my farm was one of them. He finally retired 2-3 years ago, but he always told me that milk was the only way to make money in farming! God bless, José
