Perfect example of why.blankstare

I am not a traditional archer.confuse

I am a bow hunter.wink

I just happen to shoot a recurve.

The guy is just offering another opportunity to shoot.

Hey guys/gals let me set the record straight. The only reason I came into this forum to "advertise" was because someone commented on one of my posts on Facebook and asked if traditional archers would be welcomed at SSA. I responded with of course all archers are welcome! I asked him how many traditional archers he knew that would come shoot in a traditional league night and he told me 4 or 5. He then stated that I should get a hold of ITBA and see if there would be anyone interested in a traditional league night. I found the website and sent a text to the number on the website asking if they thought anyone would be interested. He told me to get on this forum and ask. That is all I was wanting to do. If you are not interested in shooting indoors at SSA by all means that is fine. If you think that shooting in an indoor league is something you might be interested in just visit our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/sharpshooterarchery and if you are interested but not on Facebook just visit our website www.sharpshooterarchery.com and sign up for our newsletter.

I want to say thank you to everyone on this site who supported SSA and what we are trying to do for the sport of archery.

If I offended anyone by coming to this forum to "advertise" I am truly sorry that was not my intention at all.

Best Regards,

Sharp Shooter Archery

I grew up in an archery shop that had 20 lanes and have shot traditional archery since I was 10 yrs old. It's definitely hard to shoot in a league with a 68" hill style longbow, people would get aggravated sometimes but that's just part of shooting a big stick. When we would have "animal shoots" with varied distance it was fine due to not being lined up shoulder to shoulder. It was fun.
SSA, I wish you the best, I wish there were more archery shops around to promote archery. It would be nice if you could have some trad supplies in your pro shop, maybe cedar shafts, various points, fletching, Flemish strings...you get the idea.
Traditional archers are a different breed, I only speak for myself when I say this...traditional archery isn't a sport, it's a way of life. I can't see an odd color leaf on a hillside or an old stump without wanting to fling another arrow, if only in my mind. My whole family shoot compound and although we love each other, they do not understand my "traditional" lifestyle, and that's ok.

SSA, I dont think anyone was offended, They are just telling you like it is,maybe so you won't get you're hopes up expecting a big crowd of traditional shooters. Like I said before, the numbers just aint there. You may hear about huge crowds at Traditional events, but its a once a year deal, not every week, and those crowds come from many different states driving long distances. Just trying to be realistic.

This here is some good readinsmile This message board dosen't really have any policy against advertizing that I'm aware of although when it first started up things would pop up and say you won a free big screen TV and hot girls want to meet you. It don't do that anymorehmm

Anyway feel free to send us your schedules. If you print some out and bring them to the club we can have them on the sign in desk. Like that show where their primary mission was to go where no man has gone before, ours is to promote archery. Like Mann said we just got different bows.

The term traditional is just a lable that people like to hang on folksblankstare To some it has uhmm, less than complimentary connotationsdisbelief Like ,them trad guys are loud and boisterous. Inferior equipment. Woundersbleh

Natural archery is actually one segment of the sport that is growing. In this complex, fast paced, and dangerous world, where we lose freedoms every day, sometimes you just need to grab a stick and step off the road. Ahead is freedom and adventure. Sad are those that will never experience that feelingno

We've called ourselves tightwads, well I guess that's true but has nothing to do with money. We are naturally tight with necessitys. We need very little but a mark to aim for, and our close friends. wink

We need a good indoor place to shoot. Those were some good times. Big ol Taylor, Milk, Turk,Youngblood, and Paoli might be there. That's a start

You never know who might show up and from where . Good luckwink

I think anyone wanting to start an Archery shop is a good idea! He didn't say you have to be a member to come and shoot so why should someone have to be a member of our club to post something on this site? An archery shop in Salem sounds really good to me!! How about those cold rainy days in Feb and March when the weather is too nasty to go outside and shoot? I would like to be able to shoot inside on days like that! And if sharp shooter is gonna carry some trad supplies, that gives us more of a reason to go there and shoot! Everyone in this club has always got along for the most part and we have ALWAYS went out of our way to make EVERYONE feel welcome!!!!! So lets not make this man think we look down our nose at new ideaswink.. But rather lets give him some ideas on targets we like to shoot and some traditional supplies that we use alot.. Such as fletch tape, feathers, wood shafts ect.. Taylor and J.R.,, you two are too big to turn over my kneebleh... So lets all be nice and respectful to each othersmile... 300 a year is a bit much, but I pay $432 a year for my membership at the YMCA.. And I like shooting my bow alot more than I like working outno..

And another important thing - when you shoot like I do you'll lose a lot less arrows when you shoot indoors!

Merry Christmas to all, I look forward to seeing you all outdoors in a few weeks and maybe indoors after that!

Well , since I started the site and am the Administrator, I suppose I had better say something. I've got no problem advertising shoots here. In fact it has been done numerous times. The KTBA, The old shoot at Nancy, Slab Road, back in the day when we had Outdoors Unlimited here in town,IBA shoots, all have advertised at one time or another. No big deal.
