well done, Dan! It took me 5 seasons to kill one with the longbow (no blinds, no decoy, no tree stands) have taken 4 since, and I think it's about as difficult as hunting gets.
Jon - yea it's light colored, out of the bunch of nine, she was the only one like that and why I picked her.
It was a target of opportunity (but aren't they all), I was deer hunting from a makeshift blind about to take a nap when they flew into the field. They landed all scattered and then grouped up to comb the field, swung a loop and gave me a chance to get ready as they moved away.
They filed by at 12 yards and I picked the "white" bird, drew and let'er fly, she slow walked about six feet and slumped dead. The others looked around wondering what just happened then they eyeballed the dead bird like WTH!! And attacked her - I stood and flushed them off before they did anymore damage.
I haven't hardly been out at all, took up Cubmastering my son's pack.
We ate her for Sunday evening dinner - Happy, proud and blessed!
