This little fella came in about 5:30 this afternoon and milled around munching acorns. Hung around long enough that I was able to get him on video. Finally, he bedded about 15 yards from my stand at a quartering angle. I'm far from a trophy hunter and I'm itching to take a deer with my new Grizzly, so I picked out a dark spot on his shoulder and let fly. The Magnus passed completely through his shoulder and exited under his off leg. He bolted and ran 40 yards, dead before he even fell. Over in seconds, quick and clean. Now hoping to get an arrow into something a little more substantial!
Thanks fellas. Yeah Jonathan, I was able to get some pretty good footage of the little bugger eating acorns and then bedding. I got the shot on camera, but wasn't able to follow him on his last run with the camera. My cameraman, aka Drew was in another spot trying to get a doe and or a turkey!
My buddy roasts a young deer each year and stuffs it with potatoes, onions, carrots and celery. This year they are stuffing it with sauerkraut. Says the meat falls apart. They wrap it up in several layers of foil and cook all day.
