KyTradFest 2013

I know its early, but we will soon have to plan the date for next years TradFest. I have asked this before, but just need to make sure what ITBA's shoot dates are for next year so I can put together a schedule.

We have to schedule around Easter, and Turkey season, and prefferably youth Turkey, Also ITBA,MCA,SRLR.  And my work schedule! Someone please let me know what I'm dealing with as far as ITBA so I can see you guys as much as possible in 2013.

BTW, we just aquired another 30 practically new targets yesterday, 27 of them being rhineharts, so expect an even nicer course, and possibly larger course (50 targets?) for 2013. If nothing else we can set a 10 target smoker round, or small game course, or cheap practice course. still some discussion before a decision on that.

This is the best I could do on the shoot dates, and as you can plainly see Feb and March are conflicts with ITBA, but there was just no way around it. Also the "KyTradFest" is most likely going to be youth turkey season in KY, but the weekend before is Easter, the Weekend after is Turkey season opener. It might hurt attendance a little, but I cant change national holidays and hunting seasons.
Hope to see you guys when you can make it.

Jan 26......"cabin fever shoot"
Feb 16
March 16 "Fred Bear Memorial"
April 5,6,7 "KyTradFest"
May 11
Aug 3 "Tyler Roberts Memorial" NASP fundraiser

I had kicked around the Tyler shoot on Aug 31, but that is Memorial weekend, all other dates in Aug are unavailable.
I need everyones response so we can set the dates and plan 2013.
Thanks,
Randy

No dale, last couple of years the July shoot has been a flop, not worth the effort. June is Cloverdale and Comptons. It gives us target setters a break. Also doing away with the May and August campouts, very few actually come and camp, and sunday attendance is always low, so i'm thinking 1 day shoot on them, unless a bunch of you guys want to commit to shooting 2 days. I guess i'm kinda retired. I started out tired, than got "retired".

It looks like we got Gene Wensel is booked as Saturday night speaker at the KyTradFest, right after the potluck feast. Possibility of another guest speaker by the name of Bob Welsh. Bob is not as well known, but a very entertaining guy. He is a retired Ohio state SWAT Police officer, he has written books on SWAT tactics, trained officers, written a book of poems, and is a lifelong bowhunter, as many of his poems attest. I certainly hope he can make it as well, but we are still working detailks on him. Gene is confirmed, to the point we are allready buying airfare, car rentals, and room. I'm sure he will be selling books and videos, as he has asked for a TV and DVD player.
This should be alot of fun !

One question, would you guys rather continue the potluck meal, or have a catered banquet and just pay for the meal? I got to the feed table pretty late, and pickins was slim, plus you invariably get too much of one item, not enough of another. I'm open to suggestions.

Personally, I don't mind paying for a good meal that I didn't have to cook.

We could just get the food vendor to put out large pans of pulled pork, potatoes, baked beans, and whatever else he can muster. If that suits you guys i'll talk to him about it. I think the best thing to do is sell banquet tickets prior, so we have the right amount of food. thats the way they do it at TBOF. I would just as soon let him handle it all, and the club stay out of it. One less thing we would have to do.

That food vendor last year had some mighty fine BBQ! Now we have to come, there's no other choice! I'm already looking forward to it. If you guys need any help I'm willing ... I ain't good help but I'm cheap ... I'll work for free and worth every penny!
