RE: Makes me sick

All I can say is I'm glad I'm in KY not IN. I'd still like to hunt there someday, I allways think it would be great hunting from what I see driving up I-65 to Cloverdale, or the ITBA shoot, woodlots surrounded by crops...

Woody, I know the same CO's you know, and we all say that about the deer management in Indiana, mostly out of frustration. We are asked every year for our input on how many antlerless deer should be taken in our assigned county(s). Do you think we ask for 8 every year. Nope, the most I ever suggested was 4 for Jefferson, and that's twice as many as I feel should be allowed. I've come to realize that those numbers are set that high to appease the legislators whose constituents keep complaining about too many deer. The deer biologist knows hardly anyone kills more than one or two antlerless deer anyway.

As for traditional bowhunters only in it for the hunt. I agree with that to a point, but every group of hunters has their bad apples. Over the years I've arrested several trad hunters, some who hunted over bait, or decided the one buck rule didn't apply to them (one even killed three). I arrested one of KY's former state chairman's of DU hunting with illegal shotshells and overbagging. And yes, I've even had a run in with one of the ITBA's membership who decided it was okay to repeatedly harrass a female compound deer hunter because she hunted the property next to his and he didn't like it.

John, if I understood Randy right, hunter orange is not required on KY's WMA's that don'T allow gun hunting. I may have misunderstood him, but what I said about the $20 fine in Indiana is it. There are no court costs, it is a class D infraction like the State's seatbelt law. Both deal with safety, but don't get too deep into the person's pocket who chooses not to comply.

I'm not going to argue with any of you that the insurance companies and Farm Buruea don't wield a big stick when it comes to some of the laws passed by the DNR. There is no doubt about it. What I was trying to convey to everyone is that we have a voice and we need to use it, both individually and collectively as an organization. Just because a law change doesn't go your way once, don't quit voicing your opnion on others. There is one thing politicians crave more than money, that is your vote. Without it, they are out of a job.

Ching,
That last paragraph, of you're last post is the whole point, it will absolutely never get better, if no one tries to change anything. All you can do is try. Same as dont bitch about our current administration if you didn't vote against what you dont like .

You're right Andy, Every group has it's bad apples! But I'm not one of them and I'm sure not in it for the kill only. But any deer hunter that says he or she doesn't care if they get a deer or not, is either lying or they just like to call themselves hunters. And you're right! We do have a voice! As far as poachers? I hate them!! Andy I've turned in more poachers than anyone in Washington CO. Mark Farmer and Chad Mills will testify to that! Not only do I want them arrested, But I like the $200 reward just before Christmas! But Andy, No one had said a word to you and yet you came into this thread being very rude! Telling people they were ridiculous and calling one of our friends a mental midget! Your Last sentence stated that you liked us all and would like to make more shoots..Sure alot of us like to joke with each other.. But Andy, there are only 4 people who have been members of the ITBA longer than me..Mike Hebner, Ron Tucker, James (Doyle) Danials and Brad Brandom! But none of our members are that rude to each other..If we have in the past, someone always says they're sorry afterword!
