What about it guys? We need to plan, the TBOF shoot mar2-4, than monday through thursday (?) to hunt hogs either in Florida or Georgia. If we have enough guys intrested in carpooling down for this it would be a cheap florida vacation. I say take a couple of vehicles, with coolers and camping gear and camp for free the whole 6-7 days.My truck only hauls 2 people comfortably, but can haul all the gear for the trip. I will still need to talk to that guy about the GA hogs, unless someone has a better idea or place to hunt. I'd just as soon hunt a public WMA for free, but his $300 for 3 days ,2 hogs per day sounds cheap. He must have an abundance of hogs to limit it to 2 per day. You can go to youtube and do a search on "Tarponnut" he has videos on there. He said we can camp there too. Our meals and lodging are our own expense, the fee is to access 11,000 acres of mostly pine forrests with lots of logging roads for access. Anyone intrested?
before you get people to commit to a hunt, you need exact dates and estimated costs. I'll go anyway, but a lot of folks are afraid of the details. ....or they are like our beloved Dennis and TOO TIGHT to go
I go to Fla. every year. Stay on an island that is some of the most expensive real estate down there. Hank Williams Jr. has a house down the road
I like it though Beaches, bikinies, beer. And oysters on the half shell
That's the trip we all oughta go on someday
I checked on that fellows u-tubes and it looks pretty good. The price is right too. You have to be realistic and know that no one will probably kill two hogs a day.
I do think somebody may do good there, and everybody says the TBOF shoot is fun.
There are a lot of unknowns though, but that's what adventures are made of.

Here is what I have in mind....., Leave late thursday night, or early friday morning, go to Ocala,Florida, set up camp at the shoot, leave shoot Sunday evening, head to Waycross,GA, setup camp, hunt monday through wednesday, head home on Thursday. I still have not talked to this guy other than some E-mails, but from what I hear, he is legit. More info as I get it.
He said in the e-mail he had several feeders, and I assume treestands, He also said there were numerous logging roads that provided good spot and stalk opportunities. I'm not a big fan of hunting baited animals, but might would resort to some of it to recoup my expenses, i intend to bring some hog meat home ! If I could take one I'm sure I would send the rest of the hunt sneak hunting those pines and sloughs, to me that would be a lot better hunting. He said this time of the year was best, not hot, no skeeters, and the food not as available the hogs feed during the day. I am not intrested in GA during july, or even April, Feb or March would be good. I can squirrel hunt KY until the end of Feb, so March, and the TBOF shoot is a no brainer.
I could be wrong but I don't think hunting over feeders is the best way for hogs. Maybe it works for deer, doves, turkeys, and geese, but they aint as smart as hogs. Them other critters probably come into feeders thinking that something bad happened here but they cant remember what
I noticed out in Okla. them hogs new exactly what them feeders were for. That first afternoon I was watching one and for an hour there were hogs milling around real afraid to get too close. Finally the feeder went off and all those hogs scattered. Two little striped babies came running in for their meal I never saw another hog till after dark, but the corn was gone next morning.
I think the feeders are more to keep the hogs on the property. I'll bet there are some good trails leading to the feeders though
Of course I've only been hog hunting twice so I could be wrong
Anyway if you saw the pig I saw out in OK. you might want to hunt close to a tree
He mentioned the feeders, I'm sure you can hunt in whatever fashion you want. I would prefer the trails leading to the feeders, or just ease along and look. If I get access to 11,000 acres, you can bet i'm not going to hunt in one spot for 3 days, especially not over a feeder.
