Walking stick

Boys, I have several maple trees saplings that I cut that are about 2-2 1/2" diameter. I thought I should make a few walking sticks. How do I go about it? Do I get the bark off now or wait until they dry out some? Do I have to seal the ends? How long till they are dry? How long do I cut them? Please advise.

Thanks.

God bless,

José

Jose... my dad always left the bark on... don't know why... just what he did...

His weren't quite that big around... more like 1.5 or so...

Wait till about June, the bark will peel right off. Seal the ends.Look for some in a honey suckle thicket and you'll find the cool "curly" ones.
