Shakespeare Necedah

I rescued a Super Necedah off fleabay couple days ago. Should be here tomorrow. Bought it cheap enough to take a chance.45# Just found out that Shakespeare bought out Ernie Root when they got in the bow business . If I read right the Necedah is a latter day Bush Whacker. Yes, no ? Anyway, it has no holes drilled in it and save maybe a refinish job, it might be a good one. We'll see.

They were decent bows, Tim. Probably 62 inches?

Nope, 54" Spent today sanding off the old varnish. It was really flaking off and a redo was in order. Was able to work around the original silkscreen logos and save them. It's a pre 68 since it does not have to "AMO" mark on it., blackglass, maple cores and rosewood with a blue accent stripe of riser wood. The last coat of satin poly is drying as I type.. Straight limbs with blue micarta tips. Came with an old string and a new in the package string. Endless but will do until I can get a flemish on 'er. By tomorrow I should be able to fling a few arras from it.

I predict you won't like a 54" bow, but it will make a fine wall hanger

I know, you may prove to be right. I sold my Grizzly because it was what I felt to be too short. But if you don't try 'em all you'll have lived only half a life.. Plus at only 45 #@28" the boy will probably be able to shoot it by the time he's 13 or 14.. It might be about right for him then.

Yea, you'd be surprised how often he needs a new gun or tent or whatever. I just came in from putting a string on the bow and some whiskers. Got the nock point set initially at 1/4 above center. The thing shoots quite well. Much smoother in the draw and the release than the Grizzly ever hoped to be. No stack or finger pinch. First several shots are shooting a bit high, need to work on that. I almost think it wants some heavier points. Might try the 145 s I have. XX75 Easton in 1916 fly well and the X7Cobalts.......well I think they fly well out of about anything. Goes to prove the point that the arrow is at least if not more important than the bow.. Headed down to visit the Lutherans now, more shooting this PM.

Well, I moved the nocking point up another 1/4 " and all is well. I put the 145 gr points on and not sure if it helped or hurt. A wash, I'd say, but the heavier points might be a better hunting arrow anyway. I've only owned 3 shorter bows including this one. The Grizzly, a Wing and this one. It is by far the smoothest and quietist of those 3.

I shoot shorter, lighter weight bows to make me feel manly. Big trucks, big guns, big bows says "i'm compensating for some other inadequesy"   biggrin
