Arrows for a 54" 20# recurve ??

Bought the grandson a recurve. Basically it's the Samick Polaris. I'm playing around with various arrows to see what it likes. I know John Nail has some experience in low pound bows and maybe other here have too. Any tips ? The small 1/4 dowel arrows I made for his Indian bow are just OK. Actually I took some of my 1916 shafts(broken on the end ) and cut them down to 24" with 100 gr points do fly better than anything I have. I know they are over spined but they still fly better than woods I have. I'm making him some new 5/16 shafts with 45 gr points but they seem a tad light on point weight. May have to order some 75 gr points.
