Sounds like John is the expert on the American Round. I need to pick you're brain on a few details.... Does it start at 60 yards or 40? Are the score rings 1,3,5,7,9? Alot of my research does not specify, We have done this before at shoots years ago, just wanted to make sure we are doing it right. I really enjoyed it, even though I suck at it. Manny does right well! We have done away with it from lack of intrest, but with the crowd we are expecting it might be worthwhile. (plus relieve some crowds from the 3-D course. I always thought it would be neat to set up an old fashioned Field archery course, but no nothing of the rules for that.

Yes. However, the rules have changed over the years. NFAA website should give you the current ones. Also, a "marker" was legal in the old days, such as a beverage can placed between the shooting line and the target. This allowed shooters to use the arrow point to aim. I'm fairly sure they've done away with that.

I found a site with info on the American round. They had it as a double american round that consisted of 60-50-40 yrds. 30 arrows at each distance I guess if you wanted to shorten it you could make it 15 arrows at each distance for a single round. Scoring was 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10 . X ring 10, outer gold 9, red 7 and 8, blue 5 and 6, black 3 and 4, white 1 and 2.
Yeah I got all that, my question was, Do you start @ 40 yards, or 60? We used to start out at 40, but was later told by another you officially start at 60
