This has always been my favorite shoot, and have not missed one for 13 years, even turned down a trip to Cancun,Mexico with my wife some years back because it was during the Klassic. Every year they have threatened to end the Klassic due to lower attendance and lack of help, well I called Dale Weddle thursday to arrange my vacation and my worst fears came to be, No Kentucky Klassic. He said the few that did the work are old, and wore out. He said for this year anyway..., but I cant imagine them getting younger next year, so it may be the final end. We are talking some at KTBA about having a 2 day shoot that weekend, to kinda fill the void, naturally, you are all invited. I'm thinking we can provide more than enough free primitive camping, vendors are welcome for free, and we have enough targets to set 2 ,20 target courses. This is a great time of the year to get out and camp, shoot, eat, and have a good time. Let me know what you guys think.
Randy, that seems to be the trend in clubs of all kinds. Churches are geting gray, Masons have changed, Hell even Kiwanis is not what it used to be. I wish I was closer to the core of that area so I could help. I sort of feel like an Eskimo up here. Farmland used to be one of my favorites, and like you, I never missed it. For whatever reason, it failed, and has yet to recover it's past glory. Cloverdale gets smaller every year.
I hate to say it, but I see the ITBA beginning to fray around the edges. However, I believe the quality of it's membership will save it, at least until the present crew gets too old. The future of any organization lies with it's youngest members. Pretty hard to compete with Video games and the Internet.
If you have a KTBA shindigg, I'll try to attend--if I can find it.
Easy to find John, highway US#68 west out of Harrodsburg, aprox 5 miles to Whites Lane, this will be on the left coming from Harrodsburg. There is a big 4 x 8 sign there on #68 with "Mercer County Fish and Game Farm" on it. the game farm borders #68, but the entry gate is off Whites Ln. When it comes time I will post directions again, or try to get a mail address so folks can use internet driving directions. When we do this we will open the gate friday so folks can set up camp friday, and shoot too if they want. I'm thinking shoot all weekend for say $20, just like at the Klassic

Randy, Would the club be interested in inviting any of the vendors that set up at the Klassic to your shoot. Some of them might be iterested in showing up. If you are open to that maybe we could get in touch with the guys that ran the Klassic and get some numbers to contact them and let them know that that weekend would be open to them for that shoot. Just wondering.
