Randy, what area do you hunt? Do you have coordinates so I can look at a topo of the area? Thanks.
God bless,
Jose
Jose, We used to hunt area 10, which is good, but seems to get more hunting pressure due to numerous crop fields close to roads, and proximity to Wranglers campground which the horse trails radiate out from. We hunted area #2 this last time, which seems to have more oak ridges, and less easy access points, which suits me just fine. Look on the map and find "Eddyville Ferry Rd, follow it to "Dickerson's cemetary" which is at a crossroads. We will be camping on the left of the road before you get to the crossroads. Sorry, dont have GPS coords. Main thing to remember about LBL, its all good ! Throw a dart at the map, and you'll find a spot to suit you. Most of the really long ridges will have a road, mostly gravel. I like to get back these, then walk the smaller ridges back in as deep as you can get. Most of todays "hunters" dont bother with those spots. They hammer the crop fields, which will always have a road near.
Jose, they have pretty good ,detailed maps at the visitor centers, and you will pass the North vistor center coming in. Even if you purchase a map before hand, you may want to stop and look at the crop maps, or you can see them at the LBL website. Look under hunting ,then maps, they have several different ones.
