Sad, but so very true. Thats why High school grads and in a lot of cases colledge grads don't know nothin. Pardon my gramer and spelling. And I graduated in 1968. Whoa !!!
1. When you're young, and don't understand the nature of life, you just want to kill something. Then you do, and if you're lucky, you have mixed feelings about it and move on.
2. "The Limit" the next stage is killing the limit. you want to prove to yourself and everyone around you, that you can produce, by killing all the game the law allows.
3. "Trophy" Human nature kicks in, and you must kill the biggest and best to prove that your skill, knowledge and determination are superior to your Peers. It must be Bigger, Stronger, Harder, and Longer. We even invented a scoring system so we could compete! Sadly, many people never get past that.
4. If you live long enough, and see enough game, you find comfort and serenity in the hunt. You become selective, and often shoot an animal because it "presents" itself to you. That is, the moment becomes too perfect to pass up.
5. Codger stage. Going to the woods is like going home. You feel most comfortable there. You might shoot something, but really just want to look, bask in the sun, and listen. A time for reflection, contemplation, and quiet joy. A real Codger can tell what's happening in the woods by the sounds, and the way the animals act. It's the perfect place for a nap.
I sincerely hope you all make it to Codgerdom. Why should I have all the fun?
Ive been at Codger stage a long time before my time Bro . years ago i would sleep in the woods and somtimes not come out till 10 to 11 pm was plenty comfortable there !! !!

I think i went from stage 1 straight to stage 5. Never cared for the limit out ,or trophy stage. I was almost born an old codger. Yeah, I sleep in the woods.

I was so depressed last night thinking about Health Care Plans, the economy, the wars, lost jobs, savings, Social Security, retirement funds, etc . . . I called a Suicide Hotline. I had to press 1 for English.
I was connected to a call center in Pakistan . I told them I was suicidal. They got excited and asked if I could drive a truck......

This next year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union address occur on the same day. I must point out, That It is an ironic juxtaposition of events; one involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication while the other involves a groundhog.

JR, for his service in Harm's way, thank him for me
Tell your son that his service and sacrifice is noticed and appreciated by more people than he or his fellow soldiers will ever realize. Also ask him to let the other troops as he rejoins them, know how we feel as well. I join John in thanks for him. May God watch over him and keep safe till he returns home. Merry Christmas and God Bless !!! Dale
Yes Cody , but after seeing and getting to know your ol' man, we'd let you in early to beat the rush.
