bowbuilders got a question


well for those of you that havent heard my favorite production bow blew up bowfishing friday.it blew up on the glueline on the riser..well they said they dont warranty a bow after a year..its 17mos.old..well any ways can i make a riser out of a single piece of wood for the riser..i have a nice big piece of maple i just bought from a furniture shop do i have to veneer the riser im so confused

Steve, I assume the bow is a takedown. I will also assume that the wood you bought is a hard maple. If so you can use a solid piece of wood for the riser. I have made a couple of risers with no veneers.

ya its hard maple,,,4foot by 1ft by 4 inches and it is heavey as rossane bar

steve what pse is it ? i might know where an impala riser is. one of the limbs broke on it
so i gave it away some years back but im pretty sure the guy still has it

Good that you found another riser. I aint sayin a solid map;e riser would not hold up if done right-good radius in the shelf area and the grip is kept big enough in the throat area. BUT I would laminate it for added strength. Just in case you want to make a riser.
