Well... I've always heard the phrase blind hogs...
Shot this one this morning at about 7:30... I'd had a doe come in and spook and a 1.5 year old 6 point come across the field downwind but he never spooked... just out looking...
Shortly I look up the ridge and see this one pop over the top... At first I'd decided not to shoot him and then told myself if he walks down that old logging road I'll shoot him and low and behold he walks right down the road... shot was broadside at a whopping 8 yards...
Shot with an Acadian Woods Treestick... 56" and about 55lbs... Easton Carbon shaft and a Snuffer on the end... didn't get two holes... not sure what happened, but at the shoot he tore out of there and across the field up in another woods and I heard him busting brush and then crash...
No blood until the last 40 yards or so and he ran 150-200 yards... I actually found him by grid search... that section of woods was logged about 10-15 years ago so it's thicker than all get out...
See you in January if not before!
Jonathan
PS As my mom used to tell my dad... well I guess the foolishness is over till next year...
