camera?

I'm thinking of buying a new camera. The one I use eats too many bateries. Does anybody know what John French used to take those great pictures?

i own a photography studio,we own a cannon 40d,xti,rebel and some more that my soon to be wife made me buy her...if your looking for a point and shoot i have a kodak itll do movies and the zoom is outstanding has alot of features for the price.if your looking for a manual mode camera entry level cannons or nikons are outstanding, pick them up for about 500 with a midsized zoom lens.just remember to get the most megapixals for the money.....

John,

If you shoot using the screen your camera will eat up batteries like there is no tomorrow. Try shooting using the viewfinder and turn the display/screen off: your batteries will last a loooong time. The screen is a selling thing for the camera manufacturers. You will not see pro photographers using it much, except to look at the picture taken. Besides you can't hold the camera as steady shooting using the screen. In their infinite wisdom the camera companies came up with another trick: the IS feature to stabilize your shaking for using the screen: now they charge you for the screen and the IS!

First thing I do after turning my camera on is to turn the display off. I will never buy a digital camera without a viewfinder. First thing I check in the specs.

Shoot some for me saturday. I am still in Maine. Temps in single digits. -20F windchills. See you at the second shoot, God willing.

God bless,

Jose

Jose is right, minimize the use of the screen and it will save batteries, also, get a card reader, you pull the card, insert it and download pics to you're computer, downloading off the camera sucks the batteries down reeeeal fast.
I love my Cannon Rebel XTI SLR digital camera, but its a lot to pack around, the little pocket cameras are easy to pack and plenty good enough for hero pics of all them tree rats you mercilessly SLAUGHTER !!  disbelief
