Sitting in the woods all day you have time to wonder and think. It came to me that now that the beans are harvested that the farm would make a nice golf course for archery. As John Nail can attest, it has lots of nice fingers of woods jutting out into the fields and even a water hazard and plenty of "rough " if you will. Would be fairly easy to set up and take down. Maybe 9 holes and play it twice. Maybe late January or early Feb. What say you ? Any interest ?

I found these guidelines on the Internet. Sounds pretty simple. I could cut some saplings and put flags on them for marking the "cups"
1 Check with the manager of the golf course to make sure it's okay for you to play on the course. Many courses won't allow it, but ask if you can play after hours. You may have to make up your own course in a park or field with a lot of space.
Step2 Play archery golf with one to four people. Each person should have his or her own equipment: a bow and three arrows (a long flight arrow, a medium approach arrow, and a short flu-flu for "putting.")
Step3 Designate a tee-off spot from which everyone will take his or her shot.
Step4 Set a tennis ball on top of a soda can (or create a similar setup). This is the hole. Step5 The hole should be placed the same distance from the tee-off as a golf course hole - 100 to 500 yards away.
Step6 Shoot your first shot from the tee-off spot; shoot each subsequent shot from wherever your arrow lands.
Step7 Try to knock the ball off the can in as few shots as possible.
Step8 Keep score for as many holes as you play. The lowest score wins.

I'll start working on it. How to play, rules, etc. Since we have two shoots at the ITBA for the 1st three months, we'll need to work around that. But I'm guessing sometime in Feb. Maybe we can make it an annual affair.Something to break cabin fever.

Ronald came by and drank coffee this morning. He said we'll head up for something like that. You can probably count on several of us. What kind of food you gonna have.
Well, we have no electric there since we tore down the old house, but there's a picnic table and fire pit at the pond. Might be able to have a big pot of chili or such waiting for us when we're done. I'm thinking about converting the old grain bin into a deer hunting shack and may have it heated by then too.
One thing we can think about is everyone rendezvous at a local eatery there in North Vernon for breakfast and then go out to the farm. Eveyone gets to eat breakfast together and it won't be so hard to find your way out there.
More to follow, I'm sure.

Jose, I remember the time me and you and John Nail almost starved to death out in the Indian Nations. Ever since then I always check on the food supply at these types of things DEN
I'd probably be up for it too, Tim, if I don't have to work when you have it. Sounds like fun, although I don't think I will be the Tiger Woods of archery golf. Bryan
