Steve,
I believe you will find a 35/55 Goldtip shaft full length with about a 125 grain point, standard aluminum insert( no weighted insert needed) to be to your liking. I shoot a similar setup, and they shoot great out of mine.

I shoot around 50# at my 27" draw, what works for me is a 35-55 28" shaft,100 gr insert,125 grain head, flies perfect with no feathers. This shaft winds up at about 500 grains, or 10grains per pound of draw weight.
Start with a full length shaft and cut down an inch at a time untill it flies best with no fletchings.
Personally I think they are too light with out the brass inserts. I would weight it, and go with the 55-75 if I had too.
Weight equals penetration, if you are just shooting foam go light.
This is a good project for winter, getting the shafts tuned perfect for you're setup. The good part is, once you get it figured, its simple production after that.

Steve,

Once I have inserts glued in... actually I epoxy them in... if I need to cut the shaft shorter I remove the nock and cut from the nock end...

Not to disagree with Randy, but I've found and inch makes a huge difference in carbons... When I'm getting in the ball park of what I need I begin cutting 1/4 inch at a time...

My first carbons were the 55/75 goldtips, and I was shooting them from a 54@29" longbow with plenty of reflex/ deflex. I left them full length( I draw about 30 inches on a good day), had 100 grain inserts and went all the way up to a 145 grain field point, and never did get the spine low enough to shoot right out of my bow, they all shot left, both bareshaft and fletched. I went to 35/55, standard aluminum insert, and 145 grain point, now they fly like darts, and I don't have any penetration issues out of foam targets, I don't know about live game as I have not gotten to shoot any yet! Good luck!
