Had two does about 50 yards, but that was it. Took daughter out the sunday of youth season with a .44. Saw three deer, all bucks! Nice 110ish" 8pt. at 20 yards for over 15 minutes...ugh! Would've made a dandy for her!

Woody that rule about does only never made any sence to me. Let them kids hunt.

I went over to the creek Wed. after work. I probably wouldn't shoot a deer over there anyway. It's legal and all but theres too many houses  around. I have all my equipment and stuff in good order. I just needed to make sure my hunting instincts were tuned upbiggrin It felt good. I saw a lot, just no deer. When I climbed back up the hill to go home there were three standin in the neighbors back yardsmile DEN

Well, my opening day was this morning (been waiting for a little cooler weather). I had decided this year I would take a doe early if I got a chance. At 7:30 I saw a doe about 50 yds and coming my way. I shot at 15 yds. Double lung (buired to the feathers), it went about 75yds before going down.

Now the cool part of this.

Shot with a bow (50lbs),I built. biggrin
A WOOD arrow (for you Dennis! I still hunt with wood.)  a friend (from Florida, who pass away 2yrs ago) made for me. smile
A Doyle stone point.aww
Field dressed and skinned with my John French knife.wink

A team effort all the way arround!!! Thanks!

I went this morning, but only saw one doe, and she was in thick stuff about 75 yards or so out. Steve called me this morning excited about his deer, and after hearing the story, I have to admit that is pretty cool, Steve! Congrats!

Steve, congrats!

Those "ghost arrows" have mojo, do they not?

God bless,

Jose

Thanks Jose,

That arrow did have a lot of "Mojo". A good friend in South Florida made me those arrows about 10 yrs. ago. He lost his life after a hunting accident. His (and others) friendliness is part of what hooked me on traditional archery. I still have quite a few of his arrows that will always be special.

Mojo yes, they allow me to carry on a friends memory.

Steve

Dennis, you should know that the Orientals use that antler velvet for an Aphrodesiac...it must work, judging by the number of Chinamen.
