getting rid of a couple of bows

All,

I have got into the rabbit chasing sport. Pick up a nice beagle yesterday. (all Brian Giffords fault). Well, like any other hobby you need some things to get into it all the way. Might even pick up a second dog.

Because of this I have decided to sell a couple of bows. (only have about eighty).

The two I want to sell are a BlackWidow PSA III 62" 57#@30" Autumn Oak & a Habu 63" 49@28". I also have a couple of my one piece longbows and would thin down my bear collection (I have to many of those to list, If you are looking for something let me know).

I won't post the price on here unless someone asks. or you can call me 502.477.0225.  I'm not getting out of archery or bows but have a new hobbie I want to move some of my play money into.smile

I know there has been some talk about gettin a rabbit hunt up later this year. If we have them ready maybe Brian & me can bring the dogs to hoosier land. And have a group archery hunt.

Steve

Guys,
Just for the record, I really didn't have to twist Steve's arm to get into this sport. He was so impressed by the superior quality of my hounds, he just couldn't stay away from it! Really, he did get a nice young hound, who is probably going to make a real rabbit dog. I'm suprised, knowing Steve, that he hasn't posted a picture of his new boy just to show him off a little. I know I would be proud of him. How bout it Steve?

P.S. I think we need to start planning this archery rabbit hunt, John Nail and John French, so we can have a couple of good outings this winter. John French told me he knows a couple of good spots, and I know we can hunt on Peabody WMA around Beaver Dam KY for some good rabbit action. What do ya say, fellas?

Hate to admit I don't know how to post pictures to this site. Plus it's hard to post a picture when he's not dressed like a proper rabbit dog.biggrin

Brian did put on some serious pressure as he acted as a double agent. At times I wasn't sure who he was working for.

By the way, getting down on your knees begging and groveling, and using tactics such as " well, I was a Vietnam vet, it's my birthday, I'm unemployed and broke, I had a bad childhood, etc." were definately unbecoming, however effective, to get the price down on that dog. Ask him how good of a deal he got on the dog with me acting as his double agent, fellas.

John,
Where are the good rabbit hunting spots in Indiana? John French said something about some strip mines up there that sounded like some good hunting. Any idea where they are? Maybe he will chime in as well. In all seriousness, John, I hope you are doing better, and can hunt some this fall. I missed you at Shiloh, and I would like to make that trip again with you along. The dog Steve bought is going to make a real hound, I think. He is a handsome dude( the dog) I can tell you that! Steve bought him from the same guy I was telling you about in an earlier post, where you said Kenny was looking for a hound. I am looking forward to a group rabbit hunt or two this winter. Can you get Jose to hunt rabbits with us? That guy is a hoot!

I think we have not had rabbits around here for so long that we think they are extinct everywhere. BUT, I have talked to guys I know up in Northern IN and they tell me they have tons and tons of them. And I hear the same thing from other parts of the world.Maybe we have a huntable population not all that far away and just need to explore that.
I think they are making a comeback around here too. We saw a rabbit "hole" or nest at the farm and I saw a wild one out in my daughter's pasture out in the country. The old saw was for every one you saw there was 7 you did not see.
Here's a good question---- we say there are no rabbits up here, but when was the last time any of us actually went rabbit hunting ? I mean with a dog and everything ? I haven't owned a dog in 15 years so it's been that long for me. Hell, maybe we have them and don't know it .

Tim,
There is a real good chance of that. Also, rabbit populations cycle not just over predators, but if we get a lot of rain it floods nests, etc. so rabbit populations can vary at times. We never fail to find some rabbits on an outing. I think like you said, lots of folks quit hunting them, or weren't using a dog, and therefore they assume there are no rabbits because they ain't out there where the rabbits are. I hadn't hunted them in years until I got the dogs, and now I'm chasing them all year long!

John,
That sounds like fun, but it's a long way to drive for rabbit. We can hunt Peabody WMA on any given day, and get plenty of action a lot closer. The rabbits do get a lot smarter the later in the season it gets, and the more hunting pressure they get put on them. I've seen several bucks run a dog out of hearing down there, only to start hearing them come back a few minutes later. It's a great place, really.

Sounds like I need to plan it then John! Me and Steve just got back in from running our dogs with my buddy Tony's dogs, and had some pretty good running this morning.
