Hello all. New guy here. Going by Root on this forum. New to shooting, been shooting a 40# recurve handmedown. Looking for learning, shoots and longbows. Thanks for having me. Chad. Muncie.
Muncie is a long way from here , i think its close to the other trad shoot . but im not real sure of the name of it. farmland ? or something like that. but come shoot with us , we'll be lots more fun....
Ya to scottsburg, Muncie is about 2 hrs. Dont think I can make the May shoot though I would love to come see you and introduce myself. Dont mind making the drive so you may see me there in the future. Looking at the cloverdale event (not sure what to expect, not planning on shooting). If there is one in Farmland, that's next door to me and would absolutely make it. If you have any info about Farmland I'd love to hear it. Thanks for the welcome.
Cool. I'll look forward to meeting up with you there. Will talk more about connecting when closer to time. Was just planning on going to watch and see what all was about. Can someone give me the newbie rundown on shooting? Cloverdale a tournament? shoot for fun? honor system keep your score kinda thing? how much shooting at what distances etc? their site doesnt have much information on it. Maybe I'm overthinking it but never been to one. Thanks.
Take you're gear and just shoot! They have a practice round that you can shoot all weekend for one price. Don't be bashfull, those places are full of people that can't hit the side of a barn. (i'm one of 'em) You won't learn how to shoot without just doing it. It does help to watch other peoples techniques, and accept a few pointers and constructive criticism. You can read all the books and watch all the videos, but you still have to jump in there and do it! I think you will find that traditional archers are helpfull, considerate, and forgiving of humble newcomers . Enjoy!
