they use the same nests out at my woods each year . i'm not sure what they are now. when i read about sandhills it said they nest on the ground ? they are pretty cool what ever they are by the way what do you think of my new camera ?
Actually it is a "Great" blue Heron. There is a lesser species. The Sandhill Crane is a larger bird, lacks the trailing feather(s) on the back of it's head, and has a dull red patch there. Sandhills are very vocal. They nest on the ground in swampy areas. they are excellent eating!
