is this a sandhill






they use the same nests out at my woods each year . i'm not sure what they are now. when i read about sandhills it said they nest on the ground ?
they are pretty cool what ever they arebiggrin
by the way what do you think of my new camera ?

someone on another site said they are Blue Heron's
i think they are right , and at last i think dennis may be right also.

Yep, for sure great blue heron, you found yourself a rookerie or nesting site.

They do it in groups, I've only seen a couple and it's pretty cool except the area smelled like a chicken coop.

Actually it is a "Great" blue Heron. There is a lesser species. The Sandhill Crane is a larger bird, lacks the trailing feather(s) on the back of it's head, and has a dull red patch there. Sandhills are very vocal. They nest on the ground in swampy areas. they are excellent eating!
