Tax Dodgers at Home Depot

Had cabin fever so went to HD to look around. They have some new kind of dowels, made in China not Brazil. I have read that ramin is a thing of the past. Seems what we have been getting have been illegally cut down there. Anyway they are marked 3/8 but actually measure 11/32 (.348). Pretty easy to find straight ones too.The grain is easy to read and they weigh a bit more than sitka spruce (all I had to compare to). Lord only knows what kind of wood it is. Heck it's probably from here and sent there to process.Anyhoo I bought six and 4 spined between 50 and 58# and the other two were light at 40#. Making the 4 into arrows now to see how they go. 79 cents per

John did you ever make any of the ramin longer to reduce spine ? Just wondering how that worked / On cedar a lot of times they say #5 per inch of shaft added.

'Bout the same. Thing about Ramin is, that it dries for a very long time. The drier, the stiffer.
