I've hunted the past 3 weekends of gun season and the deer are as scarce as I have ever seen them. That big buck on opening day and two small does the next Saturday is it ! Hunted all day yesterday and not so much as a snort or flagging tail. Usually when you come out at midday or go back in the evening you hear something or see something but the woods is dead. I know mast is short this year but there is still plenty of corn in the fields around the farm I hunt, and alfalfa a'plenty too.Anyone else having a "scarce" year ?

Tim, I was at Brushcreek yesterday (Saturday) squirrel hunting and saw 3 does and a small buck. Not a mile from your place. I was within 25 yards of one doe for over 15 min..
No squirrels seen, however.
I suggest you re-scout because their patern has changed. Look for them to bed on the south side of the hills, around 8-9 AM
John , we need to get together for some squirrel hunting before Xmas. The farm is being overrun with 'em.Maybe they are moving from the deeper woods to the woods close to corn fields, 'cause there sure seems to be a shortage of mast for them.I could have killed a limit from my stand Friday(if I could hit them of course )
