Looks good . You are on a roll with those little skinners. I've been saving my thicker sawzall blades to make knives out of. Need to get after it I guess. What did you use for the finger guard? Looks like you had to remove more material from the sides of the first one to make it right. Less removed on the second one. Is that because you only had to take it down to the hilt's width instead of to the thickness of the blade?
the finger guard is a thin bronze shim stock i found at work. i did remove less on 2nd 1 becouse i used the finger guard . i'm new at this so i just do what looks and feels right and hope for the best i think you would be much better off to use a old skillsaw blade than a sawzall blade. it would probly hold an edge longer???
I dunno the maple looks pretty good. I've got some curly maple if you wanna trade me out of some of it. It makes a PERTY knife handle! You going to the Hoosier Nat. forest hunt/ bow bee thing come October? If so, we can do some trading then. I dunno which would hold an edge better, theres less cutting and shaping with a sawzall blade they're already close to knife shape before you starting grindin on 'em.
mmann it's not hard to cut profile of knife out . use a cutoff wheel and angle grinder. then finish shaping it with a belt sander . lots & lots of fun. just make sure to wear safty glasses!
