Removing gunk from limb

I have a pair of recurve limbs that had a strip of velcro over the string groove to prevent string noise. I removed the velcro and now have the old glue/gunk on the limb. What do you guys recommend to remove it that will not hurt the limb finish. Thanks. God bless, José
