Time for a vote?

Ok guys the 9/11 shoot is a real world scoring event and we need to have a meeting to elect oficers and such.

I have done some research and found that the deal usually goes as such: positive points for shots in the vital ring (our eights), negative point for hits outside the vitals (our fives/foam), and zeros for misses.

#1 - We need to decide how we are going to score this, my suggestion is to score vitals as +1, wounds as -1 and misses as zero, this keeps scoring simple and will still will represent about the same results if we would do as others have with +5 for vitals, -8 for wounds, or basically making wounds a bigger penalty than kills are a benefit.

#2 - Would you rather have a meeting first thing or after the shoot? Remember that the shoot off has to be afterward the normal shoot, I would guess having the shoot off before a meeting - maybe not.

What do you all think? I want to post the scoring method and meeting time in the Newsletter so let's get the show on the road!! PLEASE RESPOND

Forgot to say my vote is for a meeting first thing in the morning after the course is set, say 9:30 am slow time.

Everyone's vote counts - if you don't care - say so

The scoring system you have is fine by me, Dan. As to the meeting, if you do it first thing, after it, you'll have a bunch of guys trying to go thru the course all at once and create a real traffic jam on the range . JMO.

Guys who will come early for a meeting are the same guys who will stay late for one. You won't gain anything , either way. Those who do not want to sit in a meeting will come late if you have the meeting early, and if the meeting is after the shoot they will leave right after they get the course shot. You need it after the shoot anyway, don't you ? You have the awards presentation and all. If you have that after the shoot, no one will be there to see it. Also, are we auctioning off any targets this year ? You want someone to stay around for that.

I agree on all accounts.

There was talk on Sat that they were going to look at the targets and see what might need to go. I don't know if that happened, we seem wait til the last minute.

Dan,

Tim is right, after is good. It gets rid of the backup and the ones that will be there will be there early or late.

Either scoring is fine with me, no preference

thanks steve

Hey all,

I really don't care about the scoring... Doesn't matter to me which way as long as you can come up with an agreement...

As far as the meeting... I can't stay late due to job (church) committments on Saturday evenings...  I understand the backup, log jam with the shoot, so don't move it just for me... but there may be others who can't stay as well...  Just a thought...  I can't wait... Getting the itch pretty bad...

I understand the logistics of the log jam if we have the meeting first but I do think that it would be better to have it first regardless. I left last year before the meeting because it seemed to take forever to start. I can usually come early but cannot always stay late due to other family commitments. They do not care how early I get up

Oh yeah and about the scoring. It really does not matter to me. The way I am currently shooting it would not matter anyway!!!!!!

Meeting whenever you want, but I believe I'd give +2 for a kill and -1 for wound. Just my 2 cents.

I believe the meeting should be early, the ones who will be there would be. I also have other obligations and will not be able to stay late.  I like John's scoring of kill +1, wound -2.            Steve

I'm good with the +2, -1, if there are no objections, that's what I'll put in the NL.

Meeting time I don't know, bottlenecks at the start concern me, I hate to stand around and wait. I have obligations later in the day also and have to leave about 11:00, may mean no shooting for me.

Seems like everyone has posted who will, I'll give Doyle a call and see what he suggests, will let you know.

Here's a thought. If there are any non members there they can go ahead and start shooting. That will help the backlog issue some. The after the meeting, maybe we could scatter the groups some, say have some of them start on the backside at the first target on the West end of the dam and some at the tree stand shot. Maybe it would work.

You could insist that everyone shoot one arrow per target and then go back around. A lot of walking, but might speed things up

Looks like the meeting will be after the shoot, approx 3pm slow time or as soon as the shooting is done.

The newletter will be out shortly. The shoot off participants will be announced.
