I hope everyone's season has been safe and successful. I haven't been able to hunt as much as usual this year but have been lucky enough to kill a couple of deer with my recurve. Dad was diagnosed with leukemia in late September. Treatments started in October at Jewish in Louisville. So I spent most of my time on the road back and forth to see him. This is the first season since I started hunting that Dad and I haven't been able to hunt together. If it wasn't for my best friend, Jarrett Manek, I probably would not have hunted much if at all. I had a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, Dad is free of the leukemia and came home a week ago.
I'm looking forward to the banquet again this year. Will be waiting to hear all of the details. I've tried to attach a few pictures, don't know if it will work. I killed the buck on 11/10 at 11 yards. He didn't go 25 yards and fell over dead. I love a pass-through double-lunger!!! I shot the doe on openign day of firearms season. She was standing 24 yards away when the arrow cut through her liver and lung. She went about 150 yards. I gave her a couple of hours and when I found her the coyotes had already started to eat on her. They didn't get anything good, but man are they fast around here. I lost an entire buck several years ago after letting him lay overnight. Only found the skeleton and head. The guy with me in the buck picture is Jarrett Manek. The doe in the picture with him and his little boy, Wyatt, is his first trad kill. He's hooked for good now. He made a great shot on her and she only went a few yards.
I've rambled enough, so I'll get off here now. Hope to see you all at the banquet. Good safe hunting to all!
