Steve, If I was as good a carpenter as you, this is the route I'd take

John, I thought about. I tend to get lazy on bigger projects. But.... Thanks

you're born, you live, you reach a point where you don't have a clue what's being said, and then you die.

I had COPD so bad that I couldn't figure out what 4G LTE was.

Used to hunt grouse on the AT when I lived in Elizabethon, TN from '82-'85. My oldest son was born there, just like you Jonathan. Small world!
One of my dreams has always been to hike the AT,one of these days...biggrinsmile

Wow... that's some pretty rough country Jose... But grouse "like" rough...

Was a dream of mine to hike the entire trail too... quickly seeing that dream fade... still have parts that I really want to do and will!

My first turkey scouting trip and hunt were around Mcqueen Knob on the AT. Beautiful place. There was an open shelter -3 walls- on the knob at that time, about 30+ years ago. In one of those trips, we hunted on both sides of the AT, I got lost for a while, but finally found my way back to the trail thanks to a tree stand that I saw on my way in and somehow stumbled back onto it. In one of those hunts I saw the one and only "hybrid" turkey I've seen in the wild: he had a lot of white feathers on him. I have not seen one like it since. I miss those mountains, never been a beach person. Give me the hills and I am happy...biggrinsmile

I always tried to avoid the shelters. Most back then were full of Fleas. But hey, that was 45 years ago

Take a rain coat. Hiking all day in the rain is not fun. I envy your knee health!

If I could stand it, I'd do 50 or 60 miles with you guys... You might want to do the 58 mile Knobstone trail here in S. Indiana as a practice. If you do, you'll want to cache a lot of water, because it's essentially dry.

While I was at the reunion had a chance to sleep in my new to me "Bear Den". Kept the single guy from sleeping on the couch.
