Feral Goat Archery Permits Available

LIHUE The Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife announces the opening on July 19 of Hunting Unit F for archery goat hunting on the island of Kauai, pursuant to Title 13, Chapter 123, Rules Regulating Game Mammal Hunting, §13-123-9.

Interested hunters will need to show a valid hunting license to obtain an archery permit.

Permits are now available at the Lihue Division of Forestry and Wildlife office at 3060 Eiwa St. Rm. 306, Lihue, HI 96766.

Archery hunting will start from July 19, 2014, and run through Dec. 28, 2014, on weekends and state holidays. The limit will be two feral goats (either sex) per hunter per day. Animals may be de-boned in the field. Blaze orange will not be required for the archery only season. Pig hunting will continue as scheduled.

There is no limit on the number of times a person can participate. Access into Unit F is through State Highway 550 and Menehune Road in Waimea valley. Participants will be required to check in and out at the Waimea Valley, Waimea Heights, Mango Tree, or Kokee hunter check stations.

Merchant ship. Mop floors, wash dishes and the trip is free.
One of the RN's here is taking a 3 months assignment over there. biggrin paid vacation!
I am game for later in the year. It beats chasing hogs in GA/FL.

Definitely too far to swim. no

and here's the one about the cattle:

LIHUE, KAUAI The Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) announces the opening of a feral cattle control in the Puu Ka Pele Forest Reserve. As part of its core mission, the DOFAW is charged with protecting watershed areas from damage caused by feral cattle. To accomplish this, DOFAW requests the continued participation of the hunting community. The cattle control will begin on July 8 through August 28, 2014.

Permits will be limited and issued on a first-come, first-serve basis from the DOFAW Kauai Branch office at 3060 Eiwa Street Room 306, Lihue, HI 96766. Hunters must present their 2014-15 Hawaii Hunting license when acquiring their permit. You may pick up a permit for someone else; however you must present their valid hunting license at the same time.

Control dates (three day slots): July 15-17, 22-24, 29-31, August 5-7, 12-14, 19-21, and 26-28, 2014.

Fifty permits will be issued per three day slot. Bag limit will be two feral cattle per permit.

Cattle may be de-boned in the field, but participant must keep tail for identification.

Feral pig, feral goat, and black-tailed deer will be closed to hunting.

Hunters may sign up again after they have completed their hunt.

Hunters must sign-in and out at the Kokee Hunter Check station.

Many years ago there was an article on TBM about hunting feral cattle on one of the small islands in the Caribbean: either Dutch or French West Indies. That is a lot closer, but I have not heard about it again since that time, probably 20+ years ago.

Man that would be awesome!! Gonna tell my wife we need to go to Hawaii for our anniversary now, won't tell her about the hunting feral cattle!
