Special bow makes meat

Not a spectacular deer by no stretch of the imagination, but this deer is special to me. After a shoulder injury I was reduced to shooting light poundage bows, or not shoot at all. Had some low 40's weight bows, and some 30#'s , but nothing in between. Mike Miller built me a "Therapy Bow" that came in at 37# @28", just perfect to keep me hunting, but not ripping my shoulder back apart. It was real important to me to take a deer with this bow, for several reasons, one being it was built by a good man that I call a friend, another was it was built from materials provided by another friend Mark Maestel (Brutus hedgeapple ), also my curiousity on taking a large animal with such a lightweight bow, and lastly, to prove to me, Im still in the game ,so to speak. Well, it all worked out. No pass through, but that could have been the result of a steep downward angle which most likely shortened my draw. No exit, but it did get both lungs. The field dressing was performed in total darkness, and in a rush, so I did not get to examine if it hit bone stopping the exit or not. This little guy ran but 60 yards before piling up within sight, so it really does not matter. Arrow appears to have been pulled partly out while the victim ran parralell to a fence, attemping to jump it 2 different times, and bouncing back both times. Good thing he did not make it, or he would have been in my animal rights neighbors garden ! That would have been awkward to explain ! When I skin and butcher the animal tomorrow I will post results of what stopped the arrow from full penetration. Thanks to Mike, and Mark. This bow will never be for sale !

if you put a lot of barbeque sauce on it and half a bale of straw, it'll feed the whole club!

NOTHING in nature better than fried deer loin.

I took my own photos, in the dark, did not realize how goofy that looked until I was in the house, and the deer hanging. Its a knit hat with face mask, rolled up. I can understand the dreadlocks comment, but Den, you have met me, I cant muster enough hairs to make a toothbrush, much less dreads. Here in KY we calls 'em "toothbrush", I assume the rest of the world calls 'em "Teethbrush" !

Good on you Randy.
I am hoping for, at least, to carry my bow into the woods before season is over.
God bless, José
