Camp axe

Tim, I noticed you had a fine camp axe up there last weekend. What brand was that? Did you use it to clean that turtle? How do you sharpen it?

Well, yes and no. I do have a new camp axe but that was not it. That was John's. His is a Snow and Neely. That one is a nice one because it's older. The new S&N axes have the heads forged in China, so I would pass on the current ones. Mine is a Husqvarna. Same size and weight. Now Husky does not make axes, but have them made at the same factory where Grunsfors are made. Seems the Grunsfor company is privately owned and the owner is an axe freak. He has bought up every axe factory in Sweden, so they are all under the same management. Mine ? About $65 , which is what the Chinese S&N run .
Mine was damned sharp when I got it but I worked it over some with an extra fine whetstone. It'll cut a piece of printer paper in two, holding the axe in one hand and the paper in the other. As sharp as any knife I own. In a SHTF scenario and I could have either a knife or my axe, I'd take the axe.

Thanks Tim. I've got two Sears Craftsmen from back in the 60's. One is full size and one about 3/4 size. I want something about the size of the one you'all had.

I may look for something old that I can recondition.

John, I'm flattered. Lets see, Tim said you could buy an axe for $65.00. It's gonna be 100 deg. this weekend. Good bow makin weatherbleh Figuring that it will take all  holiday weekend to make one and addin up my hourly rate and the materials used. I recon my bow is worth at least $14.00.

What else do I gotta throw in for that chopper of yoursbiggrin

Seriously John you have been on a quest for the perfect bow since I've known you. Buyin and tryin every pretty bow that comes along.

Are you sure you wanna give that all up when you try one of my Sticksevileyenoaww

The custom bow industry would crash oveernight.hmm

Whenever your ready for the last bow you'll ever want, we'll talkbiggrin
