I bought this book about 18 years ago and I'm reading it again. I haven't read it for about ten years..Jay Massey wasn't a big sucsessful trophy hunter, but his way of writing almost makes me feel like I was there with him on these hunts. I honestly think this is the best outdoor book ever writen! It's not in print anymore but if any of you ever find a used copy of it, you should pick it up..Very good read!
I said I haven't read it for 10 years but it seems like every hunting season, when I get frustrated I have to get it out and read the last chapter just so I can remember why I'm hunting.. It's by far the best chapter!
I've got 4 of Massey's books, all good stuff. He was the real deal. I asked Yana Robertson at Cloverdale if she remembered Jay, she said "Yes, he told me I had a cool Indian name" . Thats neat ! I just had to have an excuse to talk to her, since she is.., um..., BEAUTIFULL !
Who you guys talking about ? Robertson , as in Dick ? I thought his daughter was Yavon ?

Nosing around their website, it appears that Dick and Vikki have two daughters. Yana and Yavon. Who knew.

Hey guys (and gals...I hope!) Thanks for all the really nice comments. You guys are awesome and sure know how to make a girl feel special. :D Just an FYI I am the oldest daughter. It goes Yote, Yana and Yavon. Sis (Yavon) is the one that has the baby Yarak and I am the long and lanky yogi/graphic designer. Oh speaking of I just posted my own website http://www.YanaPrana.com it is is Beta mode (so please be nice) but will be putting a lot of archery videos and outdoorsy stuff on it soon!
As for Jay...I was very young when I knew him but always sensed that he was a very kind-hearted and down-to-earth man. We are all very lucky to have had such an amazing spirit in our community. In memory of him I put banners throughout the TradOut.com website that commemorate some of the special things he wrote about that completely encompass the spirit behind traditional archery. If we could all come together and throw out all the frivolous and pompous "I shot this" attitude we would be doing the sport of Traditional Archery/Bowhunting a huge favor and in turn would get more youth involved and compounders converted. Jay would be so proud! Lets work together to do this for him and archery!
Love and light to you all!

Well right now I'm making arrows for a friends wife. And kinda getting back into shooting selfbows.. As far as bragging to pounders, you're right.. You catch more flies with honey than vinigar. But we are very proud of what we shoot. I remember an artical your dad wrote called Defining Traditional. some wrote some bad letters to TBM about that. I called your dad just to thank him for it. He wasn't home but I talked to your Mom.
