So there I was. Oozing along as silent as death. I Spied a fat doe at about 75 yards..........I always stop moving in the shade.........as soon as I stepped into the sunlight, she spotted my jack-'o-lantern hat. (insert appropriate curse words here) The Glorious State should be proud, because it really is "safety orange"--it rendered the doe completely safe from me.
She had her tail straight out when she walked off and didn't seem overly spooked, so I waited a few min and crept the last 75 yards. Of course, she was gone.......however............a fox squirrel was feeding on the ground about 40 yards further. Again, as soon as I hit sunlight, it had just as well have been a horn blowing and he buggered off.
Meh! time to go home. Came in the drive, and there was a huge cat (I've shot 7 this Fall in my barrnyard) he looked like he was stalking one of my rabbits. I eased the door open, and he immediately ran...........I forgot to take the stupid hat off! I'm singing the "ORANGE BLUES"
PS: There is nothing more stupid looking than a hunter in camo wearing an Orange hat. Thank you Indiana for your Infinite wisdom
Are yousaying you have to wear orange while bowhunting?I don't know about Hoosierland, but down here public land is not open to gunhunting except for quota hunts. Therefore we can go without the orange on our WMA's during statewide gunhunting. Of course during quota hunts only those drawn are allowed to be there.

that makes entirely too much sense. Here, you must wear blaze orange from gun opener until close of muzzleloader season, except in persuit of ducks.
The Glorious State assumes that everyone hunts from a tree
Fluorescent (hunter) orange:
Hunters, including those using archery equipment, must meet fluorescent (hunter) orange requirements while hunting deer in the firearm and muzzleloader seasons (Nov. 12-27 and Dec. 3-18). The minimum requirement is one or more of the following articles exposed at all times that are solid fluorescent orange vest, coat, jacket, coveralls, hat or cap. Minimal logos or patches are allowed. Camouflage-patterned orange garments do not satisfy the requirement.

You dont have to wear it after muzzle loader season goes out. But then we can only hunt for two more weeks after that.. It sucks!! And next year they are gonna allow crossbows during the regular archery season. Indiana has huge deer but our herd is small compared to other states.. Why they want more deer killed is beyond me?
