Off season project

Several of you saw me start walking the evening of our last shoot. I was going with Dale elk hunting and didn't want to be an anchor to his hunt. I have continued that, plus trying to cut back food intake (tough). I have lost 22 lbs. and continue to walk almost everyday. Sure have much higher energy. I also convinced Dale to start, he was doing good. Haven't talked to him about it for several days. He'll have to give an update. Anymore takers in my group of aging friends?

Steve I'm only 43 but now I have too. Thats wonderful that you have lost that much.. My main thing is doing it to get and keep my bp down..And lose wt. I'm at 215 now and would like to weigh around 190. I'm gonna start going back to the Y as soon as deer season is over..Thanks for the inspiration!

I agree John, it would be nice. Don't have anyone to walk with, so on some days it's very boring

My wife bought me a membership at the gym here for Christmas last year. I hit it steady and regular, walking about 2 miles at a brisk pace (3.5mph), got on the elliptical, worked the weight equipment, so on and so forth. Back in May at our 2 day I slipped on the wet grass one morning and it wasn't much really but turned out I tore my meniscus in my right knee again. Third time on that knee. Just a minor tear but a tear nonetheless. I've done that 3 times now and I know the drill. I nursed it all Summer and now I use a brace anytime I'm going to be walking on uneven ground. Anyway, I had to stay off the treadmill all Summer and I felt it the past 2 weeks while walking the farm in search of whitetail. Anyway, this morning before church we went to the gym and I'm going to get my legs back. A 9 year old grandson can flat walk you to death.

This getting old is tuff. I went to a couple of events last year where I got more tired than I liked. Besides walking, trying not to eat after 7pm and cutting out a lot of the junk food. I'm not perfect with the eating but I am doing better. It has helped deer hunting and walking some of the hills. Tim, it ain't possible to keep up the pace of those grand kids.

Update....... I am still walking, miss a day here and there but trying to keep a fairly regular schedule. Went to the doctor for a regular checkup and all my numbers were better than they have been for a long time. Thanks for the urging to get healthier Steve it is paying off.
