Greetings from Alabama

I rode the motorcycle down to the HH shoot.......so far, I remain unimpressed. It is 4PM thursday, and about 10 vendors are here. I took lots of pictures (that this slooooow wi-fi can't handle) I will post them when I get back. HOT HOT HOT here.I gave up the tent first night and got an air conditioned cabinbiggrin

Mosquitos are not too bad, but the dog  gnats have tromped down 37 acres so far...

Yes, they had several trucks hauling logs off. Traffic was awful, specially through Nashville. Dennis is bungalow some of Jim's kin on his wife's side?confuse

Dale, I was there yesterday (Thursday) for the opening day. Not as many people or vendors as the Kentucky shoot. They may come in this evening-Friday- but it didn't look good to me. ONE guy there making arrows. 4 bowyers, and three guys making selfbows. One flint knapper. Maybe 75 people camping when I left.

IT WAS 104 DEGREES THURSDAY

Todd: I could have had my pick of the girlie/girls there wih that central air!! ps-ask Jim why his wife married him (hint. He had air conditioning)

Hummm... A bit disappointing... shame to drive (ride) so far and be so few people... I always thought this was one of the bigger shoots in the south...

Guess I shouldn't complain about 95 here tomorrow... wow 104 that's really warm...

Keep us informed John...

Jonathan

Sorry to hear about your disappointing trip John. Like Jonathan, I thought that was a big shoot. I would have gone with you, but the indians called.

Stay cool.

God bless,

José

Too few of people? Thats means no backed up course, or waiting inline for a cheeseburger ! I'm really wantin to go next year now! I don't get too wrapped up in a bunch of vendors either, more than about 10 and there is more than you can look at anyway. The facilities there look nice. What did the cabins rent for?

Randy, there were No food vendors. The Park has a restuarant, but it was not open for breakfast. Had good catfish on the buffet, though. The cabin was $80 per.
I never said I was Dissapointed. It was just not a big shoot......at least the first day

no food vendors? thats bad ! nice looking facilities though, I saw some pics on a leatherwall thread. I'd like to make that shoot if they would do it in March. I'm not a big fan of 104 either, or even 90 for that matter. You ever been to Denton Hill?

I went once many moons ago. We were at my in-laws in PA and I drove up by myself. I had a good time. Lots of vendor and lots more shooters. They had 3 courses at the time. I believe they still do. I did not shoot the hill course that you go up with the ski lift and shoot your way down. Tons of targets on the lawn in front of the lodge and they were shot out and changed every few hours. Too many people shooting at them. Definitely worth the trip at least once in a lifetime. I would not mind going again. It is only a couple hours longer than going to Compton.

Stay busy.

God bless,

José
