Tim and John's Excellent Adventure

John and I ventured over to near Bedford this morning to see Loyd Cheek. He gave us the tour of the place which included his exotic game birds and waterfowl. Cool stuff. I did not know pheasants got that big. Then he dug out some bows available for sale. Some were too light and some just not my fancy. One was a 58 pounder and I did not give it much look see, allowing for it's weight and all. I shot a 48 several times and was on the verge of buying it but on a hunch, picked up the 58 again. Once I was warmed up it drew back quite smoothly and did not feel like a 58. Well one thing led to another and I bought the bow. It's a Pronghorn clone in Actionwood. John and I said our goodbyes and drove in to Bedford for lunch. Ever up that way , hit Stohl's Black Buggy restaurant. John and I tore up the fried chicken, chicken livers, smashed taters and gravy, brussel sprouts and cabbage. Followed that up with ice cream, bread pudding, fried apples and more ice cream.

Now with our bellies full and needing a nap we drove back to Brownstown to do some shooting on the range at the Forestry. Well, the bridge to the bow range was washed out from the heavy rains, so drove over on the backside to the horse trail area and enjoyed a few hours of hiking and stumpin'. Some spectacular shots were made and a few bad shots thrown in to prove we are after all, human.

A stop at Circle K for some sody pops and home to Seymour.

Once home I scaled the bow--55@28 was what my scale showed and that makes more sense. All in all a great day and one well pleased new bow owner.

Well, I couldn't let 'ol Tim buy a new bow and me not, so I had a fit of nostalgia, and bought a Dan Quillian Bamboo longhunter from a guy in Florida. Second one I've owned. I miss old Dan. I guess he couldn't live in this politically correct world.........btw, we need an Al Qaeda target at the club.

Team 6 seems to prefer right into the left eye, blowing off huge chunks of skull bone in the process. I'm getting on my soapbox for a moment. Big debate over showing photos of Bin Laden dead. Where was the debate when they showed people jumping to their death from the Towers ? Where was the debate when they showed Americans being beheaded on camera ? I just don't get it. Well, back off the soapbox.

It'd be easy to do, JR. Maybe a standing bear wearing a bed sheet with a diaper on it's head.
